Profile

I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor/psychotherapist and member of the BACP. I work together with individuals to help them make sense of their current circumstances, relationships and experiences, which may be influenced by the past. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental and confidential space in which thoughts and feelings can be explored at the clients own pace with a view to fostering autonomy and change. I work on a one-to-one basis with both young people and adults, from a broad range of social and cultural backgrounds, and can offer both short and long-term therapy.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

BSc (Hons) Psychology (BPS Approved), University of Reading;
Certificate in Counselling Skills, University of Reading;
Introduction to Art Therapy, BAAT;
Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, University of Reading;
MA in Counselling, University of Reading.

My experience includes having practised within a low cost counselling service; providing short-term counselling in a university counselling service; and in an anxiety clinic which incorporated running group work for adolescences with anxiety disorders.  I have previously worked for several years within research focussing on maternal anxiety and child development.

Currently I work in private practice with both men and women from various backgrounds who are expereincing a range of difficulties.  I also work for a London-based charity co-ordinating a counselling service for parents of children under 5 and providing group work for mothers experiencing postnatal depression.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and eligible for accreditation. I adhere to the BACP code of ethics, attend regular supervision and hold professional indemnity insurance.

I practise from a central Reading location within pleasant surroundings and within easy walking distance of Reading Town centre and station. There is free two-hour parking in the vicinity as well as access to main bus routes.
