Profile
It can be difficult trying to cope alone with the burden that you are carrying and its sometimes not easy to talk to family or friends, that's why Counselling can be so helpful. I count it a privilege to be a Counsellor and warmly invite you to contact me, especially if you have never had Counselling before. I have eleven years of experience working with clients from all walks of life and can offer you not only what I have gained from experience, but also what I have learned from my own personal journey. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help but it will be the first step in achieving your goal if you do.
If your issues are overwhelming, or you just need to get another perspective in order to make changes for yourself, then one-to-one or couples counselling is for you.
WHAT I CAN OFFER YOU
In a safe and confidential setting I can show you how it is possible to deal effectively with any problem that may be weighing you down in order to bring about positive change.
I can help you gain a clearer vision of the changes that you may choose to make to promote personal development and success.
I can provide you with the support you need and if you wish, teach you how to use tools and techniques to enable you to continue making changes for your life.
Step-by-step, the counselling I offer can enable you to grow in confidence and achieve your goals.
I believe that unless we explore and deal, with the personal issues that overwhelm us in our daily lives, we can't have true freedom and peace. This is something that I have proved for myself from emotional, spiritual and physical perspectives.
A POTTED HISTORY
I qualified 11 years ago, in Integrative Humanistic Counselling and bring a wealth of experience to my work. I have been in private practice for 11 years and have dealt with a vast range of problems affecting people's lives.
I have in-depth knowledge and training in addictions. I worked for over four years in a residential rehabilitation centre with a Christian ethos where I ran an intensive 12-Step CBT therapy programme of recovery for clients (many ex-offenders) who wanted recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction. Some had cross addictions e.g. gambling, smoking, or an addiction to criminal activities.
Whilst undergoing intensive therapy, clients were enabled to make the changes they needed in order to begin living a fulfilled life free from their drug of choice.
During my work with individuals and groups, I saw courageous people make positive changes. These results not only changed their lives for the better but contributed to the healing of their dysfunctional relationships too.
I also offer help and support in other areas such as terminal illness, disability, dementia, over or under-eating, low self-esteem, relationships, child-related difficulties, bullying, adoption, work-related issues, Christian and other faith issues affecting daily living.
I am a registered Adoption Counsellor and have received specialist training with Barnardos and am qualified to help you with any issues in relation to this, whether you are a birth mother or father, adoptee, adopter or close family member needing support.
I am an NLP Practitioner and have a diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming and am able to offer you additional tools and techniques that can help you tap into your true potential and achieve positive outcomes in any area of your life. --- A "problem" is an opportunity for change --- What we believe we can achieve --- We can make new choices until we find what does work --- (Sue Knight)
I run my own private practice very close to local bus routes and four minutes drive from junction 4 of the M25.
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and can offer you a sound professional service in line with the BACP Ethical Framework.
I am UKRCP Registered.
I am also a qualified Supervisor and Group Therapist and welcome qualified practitioners, students and groups to my practice.
I have a comfortable and confidential counselling room within my home.
I offer one-to-one, couples or group therapy.
Please see further information regarding the support that I offer in the 'Supervision' section of this directory. If you are a practitioner or counselling student, I can provide you with effective and creative supervision to enhance your work.
