My name is Mary-Anne Nickerson I am a fully accredited Counsellor with the BACP and my counselling service is called "Clear View Counselling". I have been a practising counsellor in Surrey and Berkshire (offering counselling & psychotherapy in Woking, Guildford and Bracknell areas) for a number of years. I have recently moved to SW London but continue to work in Woking, Surrey. I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment and I am an accredited trained counsellor and a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists).

Clearview Counselling Service provides confidential counselling in a safe environment with a trained integrative counsellor. My Aim

My aim is to be non-judgemental and to be empathetic, respectful and honest in my client work. I have specific knowledge of working with clients with relationship issues and an important part of my work is to help to build personal self-confidence and raise levels of self-awareness so that you can enhance your relationships and achieve your life-goals.

How I Work

I work with clients by looking at what they 'bring' and tailor the counselling therapy to meet their needs. I incorporate a range of different theories but nearly all of my work involves working together through the therapeutic relationship from the theories explored in Petruska Clarksons' model for therapy "The Therapeutic Relationship".

I have key experience of youth work and such issues as eating disorders, cultural and religious issues, anger management, teenage pregnancy/relationship problems as well as substance misuse/addictions.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I have achieved a Higher Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Guildford College of Higher Education (BACP accredited training) as well as having a degree (BA Hons) in Communications and Cultural Studies from UWE. I am also accredited as a counsellor and psychotherapist with the BACP (www.bacp.co.uk)

In addition to this I have various training experiences and completed continued professional development workshops from my work at Womens Aid supporting victims of domestic violence and also a wide range of experience and training whilst working with young people (13-19 years) for Connexions and through the Department of Social Responsiblity in Guildford.

I also have specific knowlege of assisting those with fertility and physical pain issues and have recently been asked to speak to the Endometriosis UK group at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford.

I have worked extensively as a Staff Counsellor at St. Helier Hospital in Carshalton Surrey providing counselling support to doctors and nurses and have worked with individuals experiencing post traumatic stress and work related issues.

Improving confidence and raising low self-esteem.
Providing counselling and knowledge of working with young people for a variety of issues.

Anger management and dealing with Stress & Anxiety are also areas of experience and I can provide day workshops on Stress and Anxiety on request.
I have a wealth of experience working with women's issues regarding fertility and pain management/feelings attached to experiencing pain.

I charge £45 - £50 per counselling hour but also I can provide concessions to students (young people up to 25years). I am flexible on costs so whatever your situation please do call me and we can discuss this further and a contribution which fits your circumstance may be discussed.

RECESSION BUSTER:-
*I can also offer 7 sessions at £50 per hour for the price of 6 (when booked and paid for in advance) - this can be very helpful for those who may need psychotherapy (more than 12 sessions) or if you wish to make a saving of one free session.
