About me

Hello and welcome to my profile.

I am a senior practitioner with 18 years clinical experience,  my core training was for 7 years in London.

I am very experienced in working with all sorts of symptoms including:

Anxiety and panic, (panic attacks), overwhelmed, depressed, perhaps feeling angry but not sure why, feeling alone, lonely, experiencing a negative inner critic, obsessional thinking,  low self esteem, which can and does restrict your everyday life.   Of course it is possible that perhaps you just don't know what is wrong at present, but something isn't quite right.

Sometimes therapy involves becoming aware of past and recurrent patterns of behaviour ~ together we look to find out why they keep resurfacing and repeating. These past patterns often originate from early life experiences.

I aim to provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment to talk about your concerns and problems.  It’s a space to understand what might be going on for you at this moment in time, with a focus on  how you feel and why you feel like you do.

I interweave CBT into my work and will offer EMDR if it seems appropriate.

Enquiries are always welcome, by email or phone.   We begin by checking we are both free at the same time each week.  We can then talk on the phone to find out what is best for you and whether I  feel I can help.

I work both  on line (using Zoom or Skype) and in person.

I offer open-ended therapy or sometimes short term ie minimum of 12 sessions.

Here’s a bit about me:

I have been working in private practice as a psychotherapist for 18 years.  I am a highly experienced senior practitioner (my core training was for 7 years at WPF in London).  I am trained in CBT, and a separate training was at the Tavistock and Portman working with eating disorders. I am a trained EMDR practitioner.

How I work:

We meet each week at the same time, a session is for 50 minutes. The regularity of the sessions provides an opportunity to explore recurring problems/patterns and relationships.   I rarely offer once a fortnight sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

trained  at WPF in Kensington London/London Bridge for  7 years. WPF  is one of the highest regarded organisations in London.  I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (Licensed in twice weekly work).

I hold a Post Grad Diploma/Advanced Post Grad Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, (5 years training) and an additional two more years of advanced post grad training.

I hold additional training certificates in working with Eating Disorders (trained with Tavistock&Portman, London)  Cert CBT techniques, PG  Diploma in Supervising; with both seasoned therapists and sometimes trainees if they have the two year Diploma or are training within an organisation.

I am a trained EMDR practitioner undertaken with Michael Patterson OBE and I continue to undertake regular CPD and supervision.

I work within a strict code of professional and ethical conduct, I am a registered member of the BPC/UKCP and FPC.  All conversations are confidential and discretion guaranteed.  I work to the Ethical Framework for good practice.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
