Profile
I am an experienced BACP accredited counsellor/psychotherapist in private practice in Chester city centre. I have a nursing background (Registered General Nurse) which informs my practice of therapy.
I provide counselling for individuals (for depression, stress, anxiety, panic, relationships, bereavement, confidence-building, assertiveness, anger management, spirituality issues, transitions and personal development) and couples counselling (for relationship issues).
I also offer workshops on a range of topics, such as assertiveness, anger management, listening skills and managing stress.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I have a Diploma of Higher Education (with distinction) in Counselling from John Moores' University, Liverpool (1997) and I am currently working towards a Masters of Arts (M A ) in Counselling Studies with the University of Chester. I am also undergoing training with Relate, focusing on couples and relationships counselling.
I was accredited by BACP in 2004.
From a background in nursing, I have experience working as a counsellor in further education, providing counselling to students and staff, and in general practice, as a primary care counsellor. I have also worked in the field of substance misuse and addictions as a key worker and as a group facilitator of therapeutic groups.
In addition to providing counselling privately, I currently work as an affiliate counsellor for a number of employment assistance programmes.
I am a member of the Association for Independent Practitioners (AIP), Counselling Children and Young People (CCYP) and the Association for Pastoral and Spiritual Care and Counselling (APSCC). These are all divisions within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), of which I am an accredited member.
I am BUPA recognised as a Provider of therapy.
