Profile

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist/Supervisor based in Surrey.

I have been a practising "integrative" counsellor for the past 11 years.
Working as an integrative counsellor means that I incorporate many philosophies and theoretical models into my work including Gestalt, Psychodynamic and Existentialism. I have undergone many years of training in these theoretical areas. I intergrate all the above theories which is why I am called an intergrative counsellor.

I see my role as working alongside you, offering observations about what you talk to me about. Counselling is not about giving you advice, but as we begin to unpick a particular issue I may gently challenge some of your thought processes. I see my role as offering a non-judgemental, confidential and safe enviornment, to explore the issue you want to focus on.

I work with individuals, couples and adolescents on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of helping you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

I have had experience working for Relate as a relationship counsellor, with individuals in a GP practice, Woking Hospice, a local surrey charity, and then as a university student counsellor. In the last three years I worked as a school counsellor, and at present I work privately from my home,

I can also offer telephone counselling, having had over two years experience offering this service for a disability charity.

I see our first meeting as an assessment session. This session gives you a taster of what counselling will be like, and we can decide at the end whether you would like to committ further. You choose how long you can continue for. It is hard to specify the amount of sessions that will meet your needs. Some people choose to come for a few weeks, and others will stay longer until they feel ready to leave.
