About me

An experienced counsellor offering short term therapy of either 6 to 12 sessions or up to 20 sessions.  It may be that you have a specific issue you want to bring to therapy or it may be that you have limited time and resources or you want to explore what the world of counselling is all about- in any case a short term model could work for you.

What is counselling?
Counselling is an opportunity to talk to someone in confidence about the difficulties you are facing now.  It is a regular time and space set aside each week where you will be heard and not judged.  Counselling can benefit almost anyone: whether you are feeling depressed or low and don’t really understanding why or whether you know why you feel the way you do.  Perhaps you suffer from anxiety, have relationship issues, low self esteem, or feel stuck and can't move on with your life.  By working together with your counsellor it may be possible to really understand these feelings, sometimes for the first time.  Counselling is a dynamic and interactive process- it maybe during the course of your therapy with me we become aware of deeper issues that would benefit from a longer term therapy.  If this is the case I will provide you will an appropriate on ward referal.

What to expect from your sessions?
Sessions will last for 50 minutes and will be held in the same place and at the same time each week.  There is no formula for what you should talk about in your sessions, no right or wrong thing to say.  The most important thing in the session is you.  You may have feelings about this and we can explore these further in the sessions.

The first meeting:
This is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling now-the difficulties and problems you are facing in your life- in a safe, non judgemental and confidential space.  We will think together about how long you might come for counselling- usually 6-12 sessions or up to 20 sessions.  It may be that we decide that counselling would not be most beneficial for you at this time or that longer term counselling would be more suitable- if this is the case I will try to find an appropriate onward referral for you.

If you feel you would like to contact me then please do leave me a message on 07738 305004 and I will return your call discreetly and usually within 24 hours.  If you prefer you can email me.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
