Profile
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, with 15 years of experience, helping clients with affordable CBT for a wide range of difficulties. C.B.T. aims to make an impact in a short or medium term. My website sets out straight forward information about this.
I also have a background in relationship therapy, and have worked as a couples counsellor for c. 18 years.
I work in 3 postcodes, SE1 , Waterloo. About 6 minutes walk from the main station. Also Peterborough : PE8 ( Wansford ) and PE1.
I am usually able to provide a half hour initial meeting session without fee. Do email me with any questions you may have.
My route into counselling followed a time when I used therapy as a client, and I found it really helped. Then for some months and years I began training and took placements in charity sector counselling. Finally I settled down to full time work as a therapist. I was looking for a balance between practical approaches ( c.b.t. ) and a more personal approach, and my two major trainings / diplomas, reflect that, I believe.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
A full c.v. is on my website ( look under Info on the right, and then Brief c.v. on the menu bar near the top ). My main qualifications are that I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I have diplomas in counselling and stress management.
I am now certificated in E.M.D.R. at level II, which fits with the level pointed to in the guidelines for the National Institute for Clinical Excellence. I have found that EMDR is a powerful therapy for a wide range of difficulites, when used in a stuctured and clear way. Once explained many clients completely get the idea of the approach, which helps them with progress to improvements. Just email me if you would like a brief appreciation of the approach.
