Thank you for visiting my profile. I am a BACP Accredited counsellor offering face to face individual counselling/psychotherapy in the Basingstoke area, Hampshire.
Modern life can be hectic and unfortunately, difficulties rarely occur in isolation. Any build up of stress over time can challenge our coping mechanisms and have negative effects on our inner well-being. Counselling offers you a safe and confidential environment to explore whatever may be troubling you and I will work alongside you to help you make sense of how you are feeling.
If this is where you find yourself, please call me to book an initial free half hour initial meeting which allows us to meet face to face and for us to decide if working together is the way forward for you. I am also happy to call you if you would rather have an initial conversation by telephone instead.
I believe that the counselling relationship is as important in therapy as the counselling approach used. I work with individuals (over the age of 18) for face to face short and longer term therapy. Areas I deal with include bereavement, miscarriage, pregnancy loss, termination for abnormality, anxiety, depression and work related stress, pregnancy depression and anxiety, postnatal depression and anxiety.
I am based in comfortable and convenient rooms in
- the Back2Health Clinic, Basingstoke, Hampshire.
Areas covered by the clinics where I am based include Basingstoke, Alresford, Hook, Odiham, Fleet, Tadley and Newbury. All clinics are convenient for travel from Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire.
Often clients sense they need someone outside of their family and social network to talk through their problems with, as this allows more freedom for them to say how they are feeling than is often possible within close relationships.
When I was practicing as a nurse, I recognised a need for psychological as well as physical care for my patients. I now work exclusively as a counsellor in private practice, seeing clients for a wide variety of issues and working with them as individuals and couples to find a way forward.
I work mainly from a person-centred approach, being alongside you in a supportive and non-judgemental way as you explore your issues.
Please feel free to email/telephone me to make an appointment or if you have any questions about the service that I offer. or visit my web site for more information.

Counselling Sessions last for 50 minutes and are typically weekly and cost £50. Some concessions may be possible depending on individual circumstance, please ask about this when you contact me and prior to your first session.
I work for a number of Private Health Insurance companies and it is possible your counselling may be covered by your insurer. Please ask at the time of making your appointment.
I offer a free, 30 minute, no obligation initial meeting where we can meet and discuss the counselling process and you can decide if you wish to pursue therapy further; this won't be a counselling session. Please indicate this is what you wish to book when you book your appointment.
Student counselling (ages 18 to 22 in full time education) available for £35 per 50 minute session for a contract of up to 6 sessions.
I have experience of working with students at a local university dealing with issues such as anxiety, low mood and low self confidence.
Having worked as a bereavement counsellor in a children's hospice I have particular experience of working with the bereaved, including pregnancy loss, termination for abnormality and loss of a child. I also have experience of working with people living with a life-limiting diagnosis and those caring for them.
I work with new Mums where there may be concerns about postnatal depression and also with pregnant women who may be experiencing anxiety or depression.
