Christina Gordon MSc
Relate trained experienced, sensitive and professional relationship counselling and sex therapy in Hertfordshire, conveniently situated for St. Albans, Watford, Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead.
Please feel free to call or email me, with no obligation, to discuss whether counselling or psychosexual therapy is appropriate for you.
Relationship or Couples Counselling can provide an opportunity for you as a couple to explore relationship issues, common difficulties include: communication problems, having an affair and its aftermath, becoming parents, different life stages, step-parenting concerns and stresses caused by financial worries, particularly in the current economic climate.
Some people find individual Relationship Counselling helpful if they have recently ended a relationship and are wondering how to make sense of that ending and how to move forwards onto new relationships. Sometimes identifying negative patterns of behaviour and working out a more helpful way of relating to others can be extremely useful.
My approach integrates psychodynamic and systemic theories depending on your needs and your preferred way of working.
I offer sensitive and careful assessment and treatment for sexual issues such as loss of desire, erection problems, premature ejaculation and pain on intercourse both for individuals and couples.
Treatment is based upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy theories and therefore clients are expected to complete tasks at home during the week. You will never be asked to undertake sexual tasks during a session.
Completed the Professional Certificate in Sex Addiction, (ATSAC) and am able to work with individuals who feel they have difficulty with sex addiction, internet pornography or any sexual behaviour that feels out of control. First step would be a thorough assessment and then the development of an appropriate treatment programme.
I have worked for RELATE for over 11 years, providing Couple Counselling and Psychosexual Therapy.
I have had over 4 years experience as a Psychosexual Therapist in the NHS.
Also have been involved in work with Alban Way Children's Centre in St. Albans for Relate providing emotional support for new mothers at two Baby Clinics in St. Albans.
I am a co-facilitator on training about sexual issues for healthcare professionals caring for people with cancer.
I have been the Relationships and Separation expert for 'Essentials' national magazine and 'Woman's Weekly' providing telephone support and advice.
As an Accredited Member of COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapy), previously BASRT, I am bound by its Code Of Ethics and Principles of Good Practice for Members and subject to its Complaints procedures.
I have Professional Liability Insurance.
I provide culturally sensitive therapy.
Couples/individuals from gender and sexual minorities positively welcomed. I have completed additional training in working in an affirmative way with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender clients.
