Profile

I hope that you find the following information useful. I offer the first session free for consultation because it is important that when you are looking for a counsellor you find someone you feel comfortable with and this first session gives us the opportunity to meet and for you to ask any questions you may have about counselling generally and the counselling service I offer. I hope my profile will give you a sense of who I am, how I work and my personal and professional values.

Sessions are for 1 hour and I generally meet with clients weekly, twice weekly when neccessary. I also offer fortnightly sessions where this is appropriate. I would aim to meet with you as soon as possible, especially if you are experiencing distress around your situation. Depending on session avaliability I offer day, evening and Saturday sessions. I would work with you either on a short or long term basis and this would be decided between us.  We would regulary review our work together.

I have been awarded Accredited status by the BACP and I am a UKRCP Registered counsellor. I can offer you counselling if you are experiencing any of the following problems : Stress, Relationship difficulties, Anxiety, Anger, Depression, Bereavement, other experienes of loss, Low Self-Esteem. Abusve relationships can be very effectively addressed through counselling.

Counselling offers the opportunity to talk to someone confidentially who can enable you to explore what it is you are experiencing. As a Counsellor I do not judge or advise. At all times I would work to understand you and by looking at things together this could help you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your struggles and your relationships. I often hear people say that they are confused about how they feel, even struggling with a sense of how they should feel and should behave. I believe that the self awareness that can be gained from counselling is an invaluable resource, equipping us with a deeper sense of who we are and enabling us to choose how we want to be in life. For many people gaining this self knowledge is a great relief.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I have been awarded Accredited status by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and granted Registration as a UKRCP Independent counsellor.

BA Hons Degree; RMN (UKCC); Advanced Therapeutic Counselling Diploma, awarded by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB)

I am currently undertaking a Psychotherapy Masters at the Metanoia Institute, London.

My private Practise is now situated at two centres: the Century Clinic in Hartley Wintney and the Farnham Natural Therapy Centre. I also work with clients for an NHS Trust as an Honorary Psychotherapist and in schools for a Surrey Trust that has been established since 1985. I have counselled in-house for Panasonic at two of their UK sites; for a Medical Practise, for a Local Authority Agency and for 'The Place 2Be', a children's charity.

Fees

I offer the first session free as a consultation session. Each session thereafter is £45. I am happy to offer concessions when this is neccessary to ensure someone can access therapy. Both the Hartley Wintney and the Farnham clinics offer a very comfortable and relaxed setting.

The consultation session gives us the opportunity to meet, for you to ask any questions you have about counselling and to discuss whether counselling is the best solution for you and whether you feel we could work together. I would always assist someone to find an alternative counsellor or an alternative means of addressing their problems if they / we did not feel that counselling was the best solution for them.

Further Information

• It is an ethical requirement that all Counsellors and Psychotherapists work reguarly with a Supervisor to ensure that they are working with their clients in a way that is effective and safe. My Supervisors are highly qualified, recognised and respected Therapists and Supervisors in their field.

• I aim at all times to ensure that I offer my clients effective, safe and ethically mindful therapy, therefore I am commited to further developing my knowledge and my ability to offer a therapeutic relationship.

• This personal and professional commitment to offer safe and effective counselling has led me towards accessing supervsion only with experienced and highly qualified supervisors, to undertaking a Masters in Psychotherapy with, the Metanoia Institute, London, with Internationally recognised tutors, regular attendance at workshops offered by leading Academics and Therapists.
