Profile

I am an Accredited BACP/UKRCP counsellor & Psychotherapist. I offer general counselling to individuals, couples and families with specialism in three areas: trauma, including Post Traumatic Stress, alcohol, drugs and other addictions and family issues. I have worked extensively with family members affected by another person's alcohol or drugs use. I offer support to parents with children's issues including children with learning difficulties, gifted children and children with sleeping problems, as well as counselling on issues related to premature birth or infant mortality.

I am a professional trainer offering workshops, seminars and study days on a variety of topics including trauma, substance misuse, cancer and family dynamics. Organisations I have provided services for include the University of Hertfordshire, Homestart, Cygnet Hospital, the NHS, The Albany Centre and Carers in Hertfordshire.

I offer supervision to qualified and student counsellors.

I am a visiting lecturer in Counselling at Harrow College

Originally trained in the Person-Centred approach, I continue to work in a humanistic, non-directive way, providing clients with the opportunity to explore their concerns in their own way at their own pace. People often find it difficult to talk about issues which are distressing or of which they feel ashamed or embarrassed. I seek to provide a safe, confidential environment in which we can build a trusting relationship. You, as the client, may choose whatever you wish to explore and if there are particular thoughts, feelings or issues which you do not feel ready to address, there will be no pressure to do so. I offer both long-term and short-term counselling to suit individual client needs.

I work in Watford, Ruislip and St. Albans and I am able to see clients at whichever location is more convenient. Watford has wheelchair access, Ruislip has wheelchair access and full disabled facilities. I am located in St Albans at The Albany Centre, 4 Victoria Street, St. Albans AL1 3JD. There are numerous car parks in the area (the nearest is The Maltings, approximately 3 minutes walk).  There is no wheelchair access at The Albany Centre.
