Profile

I am a warm caring and confident person with a deep love of counselling, who is skilled in facilitating gentle exploration and change. A qualified and professional counsellor, I offer short and long term personal and relationship counselling from comfortable private rooms in Tavistock and Plymouth. I believe that my own life experiences play an important part in helping to build a warm trusting relationship with you within which you can explore any difficulties you may be having.

People come to counselling for many different reasons when they are feeling stressed, confused, and unhappy or are overwhelmed by events in their lives. During these difficult times it can be helpful to share your fears and anxieties with someone in a safe confidential space. By exploring your issues you can start to understand yourself better and this new self awareness can bring insights, solutions and change. Learning to draw on your own resources and strengths, which you may not even be aware of, can help you lead a happier and more fulfilling life.

As an integrative counsellor I have experience and training in using a wide range of well known counselling approaches. From these I can create a tailor made approach which best suits you so that the experience feels 'right' for you and in which you feel valued.

I have experience of working with people who suffer from anxiety, depression, panic attacks, anger, bereavement and loss, low self esteem, bullying, relationship difficulties and work related stress.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

For the past eighteen years I have worked in doctors surgeries in Yelverton as a receptionist, and in Plymouth and Okehampton as a practice manger.

Consequently I have a wealth of experience working with people of all ages and backgrounds. It was during this time that I became interested in counselling because I could see how the practice counsellors had the skills to transform peoples lives.

Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP accredited) 2009
TA (Transactional Analysis) 101 Certificate (2007)
Level II Certificate in Counselling Skills (2006)
I believe in ongoing professional development and recently attended courses include those on CBT, self harm, mindfulness and counselling research.
