About me

I am an experienced and BACP accredited (UKRCP Reg Ind) counsellor, supervisor and trainer working in Ewell Village, Epsom. As an integrative therapist I work using a range of tools and techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

If you want to change, counselling can be your first step in a successful course of therapy. I offer couples and individuals counselling, including young people.  I work to either a short term focused basis or with longer term therapy where helpful.

I aim to help you identify the specific issues that are troubling you and move you to explore and understand these and work with techniques for resolving them in a confidential and safe environment.
Issues that can be successfully worked with include:
Relationship Issues including emotional, sexual and physical abuse.
Couples Issues including affairs and betrayls, separation and divorce, fertility problems, miscarriage and abortion.
Family and Child related Issues including conflict mangagement and resolution.
Anger Management, Anxiety and Panic Disorders (Generalised Anxiety Disorder), Depression, Eating Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Phobias, Loss and Bereavement, Low Self Esteem and Confidence, Personality Disorders and many others.
I have experience working with addiction issues and support those following the 12 step programme.  This includes porn and sex addiction.

Recent testimonials:"When I met Jo, I was finding it hard to work, see my friends, sleep or even eat. Jo showed me the way to overcome my issues and gain a greater understanding and acceptance for who I am. The techniques and knowledge she gave to me have left me secure in who I am and confident to live a fulfilled life." D

"I am not sure whether I would have come through the last year without Jo's help. When I first met Jo I was in a very dark place. She brought me back from the brink. She is empathetic and understanding, a fantastic listener, and provides sound practical and emotional advice. With her guidance, I am now
confident that I can deal better with the trials and tribulations that a demanding professional work and busy home life bring. My family and I are so grateful for her kindness and perspective, something easily lost when in the midst of illness. There are bound to be potholes and troughs along the way, but I know I can always rely on Jo if I need assistance. Thank you Jo, from the bottom of my heart, I will always be thankful." K

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
