Profile

I am an Integrative Counsellor who is registered with the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and completed my qualifying, counsellor training on a humanisitic-led, BACP accredited, Post-Graduate Diploma Counselling Course.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I am able to offer you a toolbox of skills and techniques to support your needs as an individual, rather than follow any single approach to counselling which may subscribe to the idea that 'one approach fits all'.

Instead, I believe that all people are unique and subsequently provide an integrative 'mix and match' approach to our counselling work, supporting your growing and developing needs, as they occur.

I have a strong, developed background of working in mental health which initially began prior to my qualifying as a counsellor. This, I feel, has helped prime my understanding of the difficulties many of us face around gaining support and access to the help we need at times of difficulty and/or crisis.

As a former trainer in confidence building and assertiveness, I have also been fortunate enough to have gained considerable experience of working both within a group and individual context.

It is my aim to provide you with a supported sense of space and safety for you to be able to reflect on your thoughts, feelings and behaviours/actions. Through acceptance and non-judgement, I will work with you to begin the process of establishing new ways of being so that you can feel empowered to start to live an increasingly resourceful and satisfying life.

I am able to provide short-term or longer-term counselling, depending on what needs are established following our initial consultation session and later, upon natural review. I also have access to details of groups or other organisations who may be able to support your needs. My links page held within the website: www.yourspacecounselling.com may give you some initial guidance and point you in the direction of some potentially useful, self-help literature as contained within those sites mentioned.
