Profile

Are you feeling stuck, wondering what to do, or maybe unsure about how to do what you really want to? Many people experience some kind of emotional distress at some time in their life. Counselling can help. I qualified as a counsellor 25 years ago, and later qualified as a psychotherapist. I have been on the UKCP Register for 12 years. and am an experienced therapist working in Private Practice as well as for the NHS, BUPA and other organisations.
Whilst each individual decides what they want from counselling, the majority of the work I do is relatively short term.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I initially trained as a Person Centred Counsellor, gaining a degree in Pastoral Care, Counselling and Guidance. I then went to live and work in America, did some further training in Counselling, and returned to the UK with a Masters Degree in Education. I later trained in Transactional Analysis, and qualified 12 years ago. I am now a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst, which is an internationally recognised endorsement to train and supervise.
Being a curious person, I have also trained in other modalities, qualified as a Master Practitioner in NeuroLinguistic Programming and as a Time Line Therapist. More recently I have completed some coach specific training from the International Coaching Federation, and have had some CBT Training from the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies) in Oxford.
I have worked in schools, with disturbed adolescents, with prisioners, and as a College Counsellor.I am also a former lecturer at Leicester University, Co-founder of CITA (Cambridge Institute of Transactional Analysis), and now work as a visiting lecturer at several Psychotherapy Training Institutes.
