At some times in our life we struggle to make sense of things, or know what to do next. When life gets tough and you are finding it hard to cope what can you do?
It maybe that you are trying to deal with bereavement, relationship or family difficulties, anxiety or depression. Perhaps you are finding it hard to communicate with people at home or at work.
Often talking things through with friends or family is just not enough. Counselling can help you sort out your thoughts and feelings and come to a place where you can make changes, gain understanding and get life back into balance.
I provide a confidential environment where you can talk through the problems you are experiencing and which are making life difficult for you.
I believe people have the ability to find their own way through life but on occasions need some support and nurture to find that way.
My initial training was in Person-Centred counselling, I now work as a humanistic therapist following my training in Transactional Analysis which considers how our past impacts on our present lives.
Both approaches focus on the individual achieving their full potential through greater self awareness.
I offer individual counselling for adults and young people and have appointments throughout the day and evening.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified as a counsellor in 2000 and have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Diploma in Transactional Analysis. I am currently in advanced psychotherapy training (Transactional Analysis) to become eligible for UKCP membership.
I am committed to continuing my professional training and development, last year I gained a Certificate in Trauma Therapy and this year will further my knowledge and skills in CBT ( Cognitive Behaviour Therapy).
I have worked as a volunteer counsellor and supervisor with Cruse Bereavement Care for over 12 years and with other charities for the severely disabled and those with acquired brain injury.
Until recently I counselled students and young people at a local college.
My previous working background is in Personnel and Human Resources giving me an understanding of workplace issues such as bullying, disciplinary procedures and long term sick absence management procedures. I work for a number of Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP).
I have a Diploma in Relationship-Based Supervision, and offer individual supervision.
My fee for supervision is £40 for an hour, £60 for 1.5 hours. I can offer some time at a low cost for students.
