Profile
I have 20 years' experience (8 in GP surgeries) as a therapeutic counsellor. I deal with all kinds of human concerns and difficulties and enjoy supporting people on their journey through Life. As a Humanistic Counsellor, I respect each person as a unique being with skills, responsibilities & choices. The first sessions are usually about exploring a current crisis or any confusion or unhappiness that a client may struggle with. The aims of further sessions may include healing the past, improving confidence, communication and relationships, solving problems, changing unwanted behaviour, building on strengths and creating a Life they love according to their nature. I draw from a variety of approaches: person centred, transpersonal, existential, CBT, psychodynamic with a holistic perspective (Mind, Body, Spirit). I may use practical exercises e.g. anger & stress management, assertiveness, self-esteem, confidence & self-awareness exercises to help people feel more relaxed and in control.
I also offer a separate therapy - The Radiance Technique (Authentic Reiki) a simple but powerful relaxation & meditation practice & have studied to the Third Degree (Authorised Instructor). As well as seeing people of all ages (children with an adult) I also do workshops and give talks. I hold an enhanced CRB certificate.
I offer flexible appointment times including some evenings & Saturdays. I work at Neal's Yard Remedies, 22 Widemarsh Street, HEREFORD, HR4 9EP tel no: 01432 278919 on Fridays.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I have a MA in Counselling Studies from Keele University 1997 - research dissertation "The Use of Imagery in the Treatment of Depression". I am a registered member of Counsellors & Psychotherapists in Primary Care (CPC) and a registered member of British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I have 20 years' experience with a wide range of problems including 8 years' in GP surgeries. I was a volunteer in a Rape Crisis Centre, a teacher of music and languages in a day centre with mentally and physically disabled adults and a therapist/trustee in a natural health centre. Recent training has included workshops: Penny Parks Inner Child, NLP, Dorothy Rowe on Siblings, Energy Psychology, Unconscious Processes in Film Making, Adoption, Suicide, Working with Dreams, Alchemy of Relationships, Working with Aspergers Syndrome, etc

Fees
My standard rate for Counselling is £40/hr. Reduced rates can be negotiated for people who are low-waged, students, OAPs, new mums, Armed Forces, etc.
My standard rate for The Radiance Technique is £40/hr. I also do seminars in small groups for learning The First Degree for self-help at £225 for 12 hours.

Further Information
I was born in Africa and grew up in Canada. I trained as a multi-lingual secretary and worked for a number of government and business organisations in the UK and abroad. I am married with two grown-up sons. My interests include music, the arts, yoga, belly dancing, holistic health and the natural world.
