About me

Are you ready to make some changes? Do you feel the time has come to address your anxieties?  Are you struggling with lack of confidence, stress, feeling anxious,  depressed or stuck?  Are you finding life and relationships difficult? Are you wanting to make changes but feel uncertain how to?  My name is Mia, I am a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor and Supervisor. I aim to provide a safe and warm environment, where you can speak freely without fear of judgement.

So many issues/events and relationships can have a negative impact on us and life can be so hard to deal with.  Deep routed issues, childhood trauma/neglect. Past or current relationships. Negative and critical thoughts can be overwhelming and lead to many anxiety related behaviours, self sabotage and loathing.

Whatever the issue I believe counselling can help.
Having a safe space where you give yourself time to talk, think and work things out with a skilled helper can be a very powerful and useful experience. Becoming more self  aware and learning new ways of dealing with yourself, others and life in general, is one of the best gifts you could possibly give yourself.  Being able to unlock past experiences or possibly something you haven't been able to share with anyone and realise how it is affecting you. Dealing with anxiety and/or low self esteem These and many other issues can be addressed in the therapy room.

Training, qualifications & experience

Following on from my Diploma in Counselling I went on to gain a BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Development in Counselling. I have been trained as an integrative counsellor, this means that I use many methods of working from different therapeutic backgrounds. Between us we can work out which ways of working would be the most effective for you, there is no one size fits all we are all unique therefore your therapy will be individual to you.

I am greatly aware of the possible anxiety surrounding our first meeting. I aim to be welcoming and put you quickly at ease. My role is not to judge you or tell you how to live. I am very committed to my clients and focused on our work together having a successful outcome for you.

I offer online sessions ,using Zoom, Gmail chats or Whatsapp facetime, for anyone wanting face to face online sessions and telephone counselling for those who prefer to just talk without the visual.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
