I first began counselling 23 years ago. My clinical expertise and experience comes from working in G.P Surgeries, for EAP's, Cambridgeshire Consultancy in Counselling, Private Practice and for Private Health Providers.
I've taught counselling skills and worked for both statutory and voluntary agencies within the community. I've also worked with both young adults and the elderly mentally ill. Alongside other health professional my aim is to integrate mental health services and make them more accessible to patients without the stigma attached to psychiatric referral.
Keeping up to date with the increasing trend of clients presenting with relationship problems, family issues, anxiety and depression, I've tailored my more recent training's to reflect this and undertaken a series of training's with Relate to enable me to work even more effectively with this client group. Those considering separating or divorcing, often find it hugely beneficial to have some individual therapy first and those struggling with affairs and issues of betrayal, can also benefit.
The way I work
I work using the psychodynamic model, which means that I consider the inter-relationship between people and how past relationships, events, experiences and patterns of behaviour may impact on current conflicts.
In working through difficulties psychodynamically, it is possible to bring about significant change. Engaging in this process brings insight and understanding which often leads to personal development and growth.
As a BACP Accredited Counsellor in private practice, I perform my own assessments with clients. We meet in my consulting room. As to the assessment process itself, I am mainly interested in hearing your story, told in a way that's comfortable for you. At the same time I will ask some questions and take some notes.
We will both have questions for each other as we go along, and there will also be some time at the end for more. It is a mutual assessment and as such,we will have a few days to decide whether, or not, it is appropriate to work together. Assessments take approx. 1 1/2 hours.
On-going sessions are 1 hour.
At the first session a contract is signed and an initial number of sessions agreed, usually six to start with. After six, I offer a short review and together we decide whether, mid-term, or possibly long- term work is appropriate. Sessions are weekly but can be fortnightly when the work is coming to a close. Any changes are discussed and agreed together.

I began my training with Cruse Bereavement Care and worked with them as a volunteer Counsellor for ten years. I then undertook additional specialist training to work with bereaved young people. Shortly afterwards, myself and a colleague launched a local service for children and young people.
Cruse provided the platform to extend my training. I later gained a B.A.C.P Advanced and Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling followed by B.A.C.P Accreditation. Four years of personal therapy ran alongside my studying.
My training with Cruse remains pivotal to the way I've continued to work with clients. Dealing with loss and change is integral to most issues.

When I came to see Ros at first, I was in a bad way. She helped me to understand the problems and find a way of recognising what triggered them in the first place. Never judgemental and always professional, she gave me exactly what I needed at the time. I never felt uncomfortable talking with her and my progress was amazing
I cannot recommend Ros enough to anyone who needs a sympathetic ear and an understanding of the subject that allows you to move on and regain a normal life. Her counselling has been invaluable to me.
G.P Practice Evaluations
Ros helped me tremendously, I felt she understood me completely and assisted me in finding my own answers.
It was fantastic to have a 'neutral' person to talk to who understood what I was going through and enabled me to see things clearly. I was at first skeptical of what counselling could provide me with but I would thoroughly recommend it.
