,I have helped people with many different problems and particularly enjoy relationship counselling - in the words of one client - 'I now understand I have to give first to myself, to be able to give fully to those I love and marriage is about playing to our strengths and complementing each other, for a happier life and relationship'.
I practise Human Givens therapy which focuses on how well your emotional needs are being met and how you can develop your own resources, to resolve your current problems and any future difficult life events, which inevitably happen to all of us.
Many problems such as excessive anxiety/GAD, anger, depression, low self esteem and relationship issues may be related to past events and there are specific techniques which are usually very effective particularly for panic attacks, effects of childhood abuse and PTSD. Enabling people to leave the past behind (if relevant) is part of the process which helps them clarify what they want to achieve, as well as giving them the confidence to do whatever is needed. There are various ways to manage anxiety and prevent the many consequences of long term worry and stress.

Comments from clients - after the 'rewind technique' which helps clients deal with difficult past events:
"This was not invasive and allowed me to look differently at past events and discard them from my thoughts. It helped me turn back the clock on all the incidents that occurred outside my control and this allows me to think more clearly about how my current life has been so badly affected"
From another client:
"it seems to go on working and working, I feel totally different and so many previous insecurities have vanished. I feel I now have time for myself and generally feel more in control."
Effective counselling always depends on how attuned the therapist is to the client and for that reason I offer a 20 minute introduction for £10 if you would like to meet before committing to a full counselling session. If you have any questions feel free to telephone me before making an appointment.
Human Givens Therapy is an innovative bespoke approach which helps most people quickly and effectively.
The ideal couple support and help each other to reach their full potential and if this is not happening one or both usually become unhappy with the relationship. Current research suggests there are differences between the male and female brain which affect how we think, respond and communicate. These differences often cause misunderstandings and developing a deeper appreciation of each others' needs is usually very effective, helping to create a constructive dialogue, whereby problems can be discussed and resolved.

After training as a Registered Nurse I travelled and worked in America and Australia and have always been interested in the connection between physical, emotional and social well being. On returning to England I qualifed in Occupational Health working in a corporate environment, advising employees on physical and emotional health. running training workshops for managers on self development and helping them with stress/work/life balance in an increasingly pressured work environment.
I have also worked for many years in palliative care and nursed patients with dementia.
Counselling has always been a major part of my role and in 2007 my placement as a counsellor for MIND involved helping many people with a wide range of problems, using the CORE method to evaluate effectiveness.
I currently work as a volunteer and Supervisor for the CRUSE bereavement service.
My private practice is in Shepperton - approx.20 mins drive from Richmond and 5 mins from the M3 Jct 1. Parking available.
