Starting counselling is often not an easy decision to make so I am offering you a free consultation of 30 minutes. Together, in your initial session, we can explore whether it is right for you at this time in your life. If we agree to work together, I will provide a space to reflect and focus on understanding your personal challenges, in a warm, accepting and confidential environment. Many years of supporting young people and adults have contributed to who I am today; a competent, knowledgable, empathic counsellor. I charge £50 per individual session, £60 per couple.
"Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.” The task is to put this wisdom into practice. We learn our behavioural patterns early in life and occasionally, in times of crisis, we are forced to reflect on them, which is where counselling can help.
I embrace human diversity and hold a profound respect for the power of creative expression as a link to the unconscious, providing a means of communication where words sometimes cannot be found. I trained psychodynamically, and draw on Jungian and attachment influences, cultivating mindfulness. In addition, I have extensive training and will call upon other modes, such as CBT as appropriate. I have a Masters in Creative Writing as a Therapeutic tool.
As well as running my own private practice, I have worked in schools in Leatherhead and Ashstead, delivering Anger Management programs to young people at risk of exclusion. I believe in empowering young people to be the best that they can be.
Previously, I worked as an Advisor with the Citizens Advice Bureau and have over 15 years life skills training in the world of commerce. Voluntary experience has included YMCA Heads Together (youth counselling), as well as Redhill Counselling Centre where I carried out psychological assessments on behalf of the Centre. My experience of counselling in a number of different settings enables me to work with people of all ages and with a wide range of issues.
I am a short drive from, Reigate/Redhill, Dorking, Newdigate, Brockham/ Betchworth, Leigh, Horley, Crawley. I am also accessible to Epsom, Caterham, Merstham, Godstone, and surrounding areas.
I attend regular workshops and supervision. My practice is in a quiet location with unrestricted parking.
