Profile
YORK PICKERING MALTON HELMSLEY SCARBOROUGH
Chartered Psychologist are highly trained professional clinicians skilled in the effective application of psychological theory and practice to the full range of disturbances affecting patients from commonly experienced anxiety and stresses to the most severe debilitating mental disorders.
As a practicing clinician I am dedicated to offering a professional and confidential service, helping people to deal with their emotional problems and gain the insight and skills needed to manage their lives from a different perspective. Working through issues with a trained compassionate therapist helps to identify repeating patterns of thoughts and behaviours and relieve the stresses underlying life's difficulties.
I am experienced in the use of a range of therapeutic approaches including: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioural, Brief Solution-Focused and Humanistic Therapies. My preference is to use the most appropriate intervention to suit both the person and the presenting problem.
I also prefer to work holistically, examining Psychological, Physical, Social, and Environmental factors impacting on a person's overall functioning and well being.
I aim to offer an efficient, comprehensive range of psychology services to both individuals and agencies located in York, Pickering, and the North Yorkshire region.
I am a British Psychological Society Chartered Psychologist registered with both the Society and the NHS Health Professions Council. I gained a 1st Class Honours Degree in Psychology at York St John in 2002 and a Psychology Doctorate at the University of Teesside in 2006.
Having worked in both the NHS and private sector I have experience in both the assessment and treatment of individuals suffering from a range of emotional disturbance, with additional training and experience in the areas of Post-Trauma and Dissociation.
