About me

Many clients who are considering counselling may feel anxious and concerned and unsure what to expect.  Clients may want help dealing with anxiety, low self-esteem, anger and other issues which are effecting relationships and their everyday life.

I believe in offering a safe, confidential and non-judgemental place from which to help clients (either individually or within a couple), explore issues which are troubling them.  I realise needs will vary depending
on one's age and concern and can provide both short-term or open-ended therapy.

I trained as a Psychodynamic Counsellor and have extensive experience working with clients of all ages. Since 2004, I have worked for agencies providing counselling to vulnerable adults, including carers. I have also counselled children and adolescents in both Primary and Secondary schools.  I work with both individuals and couples.

I am a fully accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. I adhere to their ethical framework for professional practise. I am also a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I work with clients whose life feels hopeless and are suicidal. I also work with people struggling to make choices and find answers in their lives.

I recognise the differing needs when working with clients of different age-groups, including adolesents and the elderly.

I can offer 50 minute sessions with individuals or longer for couples (1-1/2 hours) from 7.00am, with the latest finishing at 9.00pm.

The room I work from is on the ground floor, making it accessible for clients with disabilities.
