Profile

I support my clients through current and past issues in a non-judgemental and respectful way.

I use an integrative approach, which means that I use interventions from several different schools of thought, such as the person-centred approach, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. I also use art therapy and anger management techniques when appropriate in my work.

I believe that counselling offers an opportunity to be supported in a safe and confidential space. In this environment, the client can express feelings and thoughts which they may not feel able to talk about with friends or family. My approach focuses not so much on 'helping' the client, but instead rather on empowering him/her. This means that I support the client in finding their inner resources and strengths so that they can ultimately learn to deal with their issues in a better and healthier way.

Some of the issues my clients bring are relationship problems, family issues, depression, anxiety, PTSD and abuse. However, I welcome any issues my clients bring. I am aware that some clients may worry about whether their issues are significant enough to 'justify' going for counselling, or perhaps that they are bringing something too complex or difficult to the sessions. However, I believe that if the client feel the issue is important, then it IS important, and we will work together on whatever is brought to the sessions.
