Profile

I support my clients through current and past issues in a non-judgemental and respectful way.

I use an integrative approach, which means that I use interventions from several different schools of thought, such as the Person-Centred Approach, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. I also use Art Therapy and Anger Management Techniques when appropriate.
It goes without saying that all people are different, and I have found that the integrative approach works well, because it offers many varying ways of working with clients. As an integrative therapist, I am therefore able to adapt to my clients' needs and work with them in the most suitable way for them.

I believe that counselling offers an opportunity to be supported in a safe and confidential space. In this environment, the client can express feelings and thoughts which they may not feel able to talk about with friends or family.
It is difficult to describe exactly how counselling works since it is often a very individual experience for each client. But in general terms one could say that the client is, via counselling, given the opportunity to get to know themselves better and to connect with their feelings. This normally leads to that the client finds their inner resources and strengths so that they can ultimately learn to deal with their issues in a better and healthier way, instead of perhaps repeating old and unhelpful patterns of behaviour.

Some of the issues my clients bring are abuse, relationship problems, family issues, low self-esteem and anxiety. However, I welcome any issues my clients bring and appreciate that far from all issues will fit into one specific description.

I am based in Witney and Freeland.

I do not see clients who are below the age of 18, however there is no upper age limit.

I offer one-to-one counselling (not couple's therapy).

Fees

The initial assessment session is £25. During the assessment session, we will talk about what you want to get out of counselling, and how we together will approach the issue(s). There is no obligation for you to continue after the assessment session.

UPDATE 8th Feb 2012: I am currently in the process of updating my website so you may find that the initial assessment session is not mentioned on the website. However, please be assured that the information on Counselling Directory is correct.

The following sessions are £40/session. If you are a student or not in paid work, the fee is £35/session (with the exception of the assessment session).

Each session is 50 minutes.

The sessions are normally weekly and on a set day and time (unless prevented by for example shift work). Day time and evening sessions are offered depending on availability.

I offer long- and short-term counselling.

All phone calls and emails will normally be responded to within 24 hours. If you phone me, you are likely to get my voice mail, but please leave a message and I will phone back as soon as I can (normally within 24hrs.) or at a time specified by you.
