Feeling overwhelmed, anxious or emotional? Unsure where to begin?
Are you considering some support through counsellingorperhaps you have already tried, but found this approach was not for you?
If so, perhaps you may like to consider a more holistic and organic approach through
Spiritual Counselling and Mentoring?
From time to time we all encounter difficult situations which we feel anxious, worried or confused about and whilst counselling does not profess to be the answer to all your problems, it does provide you with the opportunity to focus upon yourself in a safe and supported environment. By exploring different ways of looking at areas in your life experiences and your current situation, you will be able to gain confidence and make changes however small, which can make a big difference. Sometimes there are situations which cannot be changed; counselling can enable you to accept and cope more effectively.
I understand that taking the first steps can be very scary and how difficult it can be to talk about personal and emotionally painful aspects of your life to a stranger, especially in the first few sessions of getting to know each other. 'Where do I start' is often the first question I am asked. The answer is not at the beginning as it is often thought, it is where ever you want to start from - the session belongs to you and you will find your own direction.
Whilst Counselling and Psychotherapy works on the knowledge that you the client knows best and ultimately you are probably already aware of the way forward, this is often obscured by the complexities of your presenting problem(s).The aim is not to try and ‘fix’ you or make drastic changes. It is more about increasing self awareness which will have a great impact upon the way you interact with others both personally and professionally. It is about helping you to heal yourself and discover the tools and strategies to continue this process.
Whilst much can be achieved by talking through and exploring your presenting issues, not everyone feels comfortable with trying to put difficult and often painful emotions and experiences into words, but with support and encouragement this process become easier and the way forward clearer.
Drawing upon the process and principals of Counselling and Psychotherapy and over ten years experience in private practice as a Counsellor and Holistic Practitioner, Spiritual Counselling and Mentoring will focus upon you in a fully holistic way (physically, mentally and spiritually) as any imbalance in either aspect will have an impact upon you as a whole.
I have recognised through my work with clients that using a flexible approach to counselling by incorporating ‘energy based’ therapies such as Reiki (traditional Japanese, Seichim (Egyptian), Angel or Reiki Drum Technique) or Crystal Therapy which is tailored around your needs or preferences may be more beneficial. Alternatively you could consider guided visualisation and meditation, relaxation techniques, affirmation work or maybe some goal setting. Through the process of utilising these additional therapies in conjunction with Spiritual Counselling and Mentoring both the person and the process are supported through focus and clarity making progress achievable in a less structured and in a more relaxed way.
In addition, I often suggest the practice of regular meditation or relaxation techniques outside of attending Spiritual Counselling and Mentoring with me, either independently or attending other events I may hold. Please contact me direct regarding these. This can prove to be very beneficial in supporting progress and further change outside of the therapy room.
Working with ‘energy based’ therapies can also be very insightful and are ideal for those who feel too tense or emotional for talking about issues in the initial stages and are also very effective in supporting withdrawal from alcohol and drug addiction.
These therapies can also dilute and assist any ‘stuck’ emotional or spiritual energy to be released, allowing you to let go and move on. These energies often make themselves known in our physical body as pain or discomfort.
If you are uncertain about trying an ‘energy based’ therapy or would prefer to be counselled without these additional therapies that is your choice and would be respected as such.
Spiritual Counselling and Mentoring may also help you to achieve:
inner peace, happiness and self forgiveness
gain a deeper sense of purpose, your role in the world and connection to the universe
explore and test your perceptions about past and current relationships
look upon past grievances or fears with a new perspective and rationale
letting go of experiences, associated emotions and behaviours that no longer serve you
an awareness of other issues that may be preventing you from accessing the freedom and focus to achieve your aims and reach your full potential
My spiritual approach does not relate to any kind of religious belief but a connection to the universal energy flow which connects us all. I aim to combine my knowledge, my intuitive holistic skills and techniques to create a flexible and therapeutic approach to support you.
Counselling and Psychotherapy is effective for issues such as family and relationship difficulties (for example children, marriage, divorce), domestic violence, addictions (alcohol, drugs, food, smoking etc), bereavement and loss, major life changes, depression and mental health, trauma, abuse, different levels of anxiety such as General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and many more. The benefits of counselling vary from person to person, but generally the process increases confidence, self worth and motivation boosting energy levels and the 'feel good factor'.
All work undertaken with me is confidential and I offer both short and long term work with individuals and couples.

Now a bit about me .........
I worked within Children's Services for many years and have seen families and individuals come to terms with and work through some very difficult experiences in their lives. I felt drawn into counselling and I have gained the necessary theory and practical experience through my training and placement within the NHS and subsequent private practice. As part of the training process I have undertaken personal therapy myself and can honestly say the process works.
I recognise the importance of building a good relationship with my clients and I consider myself to be warm, understanding, approachable, open minded and non-judgemental. I have been told I have a good (wicked) sense of humour also.
