Christina Lake MBACP (Accred) MA. BA (Hons)
Are you distressed and need to talk to someone in confidence? I am a qualified counsellor (BACP Accredited) with nearly ten years' experience, including working within a GP practice and in a community mental health centre.
Over the years I have worked with people from all walks of life and with a variety of different problems, including anxiety, anger management, bereavement, childhood sexual or physical abuse, depression, eating disorders, low self esteem, OCD, relationship issues, stress, post-traumatic stress, and trauma. I also work for Employee Asssistance companies counselling individuals experiencing work-related stress.
It was after working in mental health services as a personal development coach/careers adviser, that I decided to train as a counsellor. My experience in mental health services (from which I have recently retired) led me to believe that with support and encouragement many people with even the most severe problems, can move forward and lead more fulfilling lives.
Sometimes the answer lies in more understanding about how we have been shaped by our past and of the effect of our childhood experience upon our daily lives. Sometimes learning strategies to manage difficult situations can be the key to resolving problems.
As each of us is unique, each counselling relationship will also be unique and my priority is to ensure that our work together meets your individual needs. I have regular supervision and my own personal therapy and I abide by the BACP Code of Ethics.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained with Re.Vision in North London and hold a Diploma in Integrative Psychosynthesis Counselling. My post-training experience has included working in an agency focusing on psychodynamic counselling and I have also attended CBT training couerses and use some CBT methods and tools in my work where appropriate. Other Qualifications: MA, BA Hons., Cert.Ed. and NLP Practitioner.
