Profile

In the past thirty years I have had extensive experience working with people in both public and private sectors. For a number of years I have worked as a therapist in a doctors surgery. I currently work in private practice with children, young people and adults. I work from a Humanistic perspective drawing on the orientations of the Person-Centred approach, Psychosynthesis, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. As a client this means you will be offered an empathic, non-judgemental, honest and genuine approach, where your needs are paramount.

    Further Information

Counselling is a two-way process that takes place in a supportive therapeutic relationship, offering the client time to explore what is concerning them and enabling the client to express their feelings freely. The counsellor not only listens to the words spoken and the problems presented but also takes account of the whole person. Counselling aims to address the cause of the difficulty rather than just dealing with the symptoms. It is a positive process that is often associated with times of personal crises, but can be used in a number of different ways such as personal or professional development.

For adults, counselling provides an opportunity to rediscover the resources we have within ourselves. It can enable us to approach our lives, our work and problems in a more creative and effective way.

For children and young people, exploring emotional and behavioural needs at a young age may enhance their sense of well-being, which in turn could remove blocks to learning. The aim of counselling is to foster empowerment and growth that can potentially benefit children and young people on their journey into adult life.

I work within The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy framework for good practice and I am bound by its ethical code. I abide by the Data Protection Act in relation to the keeping of personal information.
