Profile

At times things can get on top of us and, whatever the cause, it can help to talk in confidence to someone not involved who treats you with respect, doesn't judge you and helps you work out what is best for you rather than telling you what to do.

I am a mature counsellor with 20+ years' experience building trust and facilitating positive life change. My approach is largely humanistic / person-centred and, with your agreement, I integrate CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) techniques, Mindfulness, TA (Transactional Analysis) and aspects of other counselling orientations. I do so in line with what will best help you understand and effectively deal with issues that are troubling/affecting you personally, impacting on your relationships, your career, your studies, . . . and preventing you living life the way you prefer.

In helping you reach greater understanding of whatever is distressing you and adversely affecting your life, in our work together I will use various counselling techniques to help you explore facets of your own personality, including attitudes which may or may not be benefiting you.

My motivational, empowering approach is gentle but it also includes respectful challenges to irrational thinking/beliefs and redundant defence mechanisms.

I operate as a confidential private counsellor in the WR4 area of Worcester, counselling individuals. I have over 20 years' experience helping others with their issues and aiding them in achieving personal empowerment. I am not attached to any GP practice.

Accredited with the National Counselling Society, I am also a full member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.

If you choose me as your counsellor for short, medium or longer term work, I will treat you with respect and work with you as the unique human being you are - with all of your talents and limitations. I will encourage development of a therapeutic counselling relationship which builds trust and enables you to achieve real growth. I won't tell you what to do. Instead, respecting you as the expert in your own life, I'll assist you in finding your own solutions. And I will provide support as you examine the pros and cons of different options towards any changes you choose to make.

Having extensive teaching experience (supported by training and further & higher education teaching qualifications), in addition to my private counselling practice I teach stress management; anger/conflict resolution; building better relationships; and other positive life change workshops.

For a no obligation chat about how counselling sessions with me could help you with your anxiety, confusion, distress, grief, depression, anger, relationship problems or anything else that is troubling you, ring me on 01905 26002 or email me on kayzega@wellnessnow.co.uk.

I can usually arrange an initial appointment within two weeks.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

MA (Learning & Development); Advanced Diploma in Counselling; CertEd; Advanced holistic/complementary therapy qualifications.

Throughout my career roles - secretarial, managerial then director posts; college lecturer appointments; practitioner/teacher of holistic therapies & spiritual development; and counsellor - it has been a privilege to be involved in the development of those ready to embrace change.

I have over 20 years' experience helping others with their issues and aiding them to achieve personal empowerment.

In addition to my long involvement in helping others become the best they can be, I am myself a lifelong learner and committed to continuing personal & professional development. This helps me keep me up to date with advances in counselling and associated therapies, furthers my understanding and increases my skills so that I can best assist you if you choose to work with me in making greater sense of your life. Personal experience in overcoming significant personal, relationship and job-related trauma adds depth to my counselling.

I have counselled adults and children from differing backgrounds with a wide variety of issues/anxieties. This has included counselling students aged 8 to 18 from major Worcestershire independent schools; residents of Worcester YMCA via the Listening Ear counselling service I was instrumental in setting up in early 2008; and I have also worked with North Worcestershire Bereavement Support.

Since 2001 I have specialised in holistic multi-therapies and, in addition to operating as a counsellor, I am a complementary therapist, wellness and positive life change specialist and trainer.

I have been involved in community initiatives focusing on stress management, anger management, relationship building and holistic wellness for 7 years.

I assist organisations to integrate counselling and complementary therapies into their wellbeing programmes and occupational therapy provision.

I am bound by BACP's Ethical Framework and by the Codes of Practice of other professional Associations of which I am a member. Memberships include: BACP, National Counselling Society, Chartered Institute for Personnel & Development, Association of Natural Medicine, Healer Foundation & British Complementary Medicine Association.
