Profile
Hello, my name is Andrea Pelling and I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and clinical supervisor. I offer counselling in Beckenham BR3 which is on the borders of Kent and South East London. Finding the right counsellor can be daunting and therefore I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have so please do not hesitate to contact me. I provide a safe, confidential environment to explore the issues you feel you would like support with. These issues may be affecting the way you feel about yourself and your relationships and be creating feelings of anxiety, low self-esteem, lack of confidence and depression. I offer a non judgemental, supportive environment to facilitate the exploration of possible solutions to problems through the development of self awareness. I also work with clients to enable them to challenge negative patterns of thinking and behaviour in order that they can begin to have a more positive relationship with themselves and others.
Life is always presenting us with change and challenge and sometimes it is difficult to adapt to what life throws at us. Sometimes, talking to friends and family can give the support needed in times of difficulty but, at other times, you may need the support of an experienced counsellor who is objective, non-judgemental and professionally trained to support you. Counselling can be useful in many areas and can provide support through times of confusion, change or trauma.
Life is unpredictable and it can throw both positive and negative things at us when we least expect. I believe we all have an inner ability to help ourselves but we can lose sight of this in difficult times. My belief is that this is only a temporary loss which can be rediscovered through supportive counselling and psychotherapeutic intervention.
I believe that counselling can be the stepping stone to change and can help clients move forward. I work with adults, teenagers, children, individuals and groups. Some of the areas I work with are addiction, bereavement and loss, depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, eating disorders, health related issues, obsessive behaviour, abuse, work related issues, dealing with traumatic experiences, personal development, loss of direction and adapting to change. As well as face-to-face work, I also offer adults telephone and online counselling, when appropriate.
I work with an integrative approach and am influenced by psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred values, and solution focussed brief therapy (SFBT).
The first step is often the hardest and yet it can be the biggest step you take towards changing your situation.
