About me

I am an experienced therapist offering counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, on an open-ended basis.

I take an integrative approach to therapy. This means that I explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings and physical experience, focusing particularly on the links between the past and the present.

Painful or difficult feelings, repeated patterns of behaviour or troubled relationships will often have their origins in past experiences, but it is sometimes difficult to make the connection or to understand why these difficulties continue to affect our lives.

In our work together, whether you undertake individual or couples counselling you will develop a deeper understanding of how your past relationships and experiences continue to influence and affect you. This understanding can help in processing thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviours, enabling you to make positive and lasting change.

As your therapist I will provide a safe and confidential space where I will help you to explore what is troubling you. You will not be criticised, dismissed or judged as we work towards greater insight, understanding and peace of mind.

My North London practice is based in Hampstead/Swiss Cottage, directly across from Finchley Road tube.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced Psychotherapist and Counsellor, with an Advanced Diploma and MA in Integrative Psychotherapy. I am professionally registered and accredited as a psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor with the UKCP, and am a member of the BACP.

I am Head of Course on the MA in Advanced Clinical Practice (for qualified and experienced therapists wishing to attain Masters level qualification), at The Minster Centre.
I am a lecturer, tutor and supervisor of 3rd year students at The Minster Centre Integrative Psychotherapy training. MA/PG Diploma at The Minster Centre Integrative Psychotherapy Training.

I am a UKCP Registered Supervisor and Training Supervisor. I offer private supervision for individuals and small groups, about which more information can be found on my 'Supervision' profile.

In addition to private practice I have worked as a therapist in various NHS outpatients settings, including GP surgeries and specialist hospital psychotherapy services.

As well as my training as a psychotherapist, I have worked for many years in various mental health settings, so I am very experienced in working with people who are in emotional crisis or who are living with a mental health condition.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
