Profile
You may be thinking of coming to counselling because of a particular issue in your life or more because of long-standing difficulties. I work with people suffering from anxiety, stress, depression, abuse, addictions, eating disorders, low self-esteem and relationship and sexual difficulties as well as a more genrealised feeling that life could be better.
I have a deep trust in the capacity of each of us to heal and grow into living our lives in more satisfying ways. I offer a place where you can come and explore whatever is troubling you without being judged or told what to do, where you will be valued for who you are, in a genuinely warm, safe, trusting, confidential relationship. I am inspired and motivated by an awareness of the unique potential for healing and growth of each individual.
I am a qualified and experienced person-centred counsellor and creative couples therapist, working mostly in private practice in Islington, North London. I have been seeing clients for 14 years, after several years working in Mental Health Services, and in that time have worked with people from a range of nationalities and cultures, of different ages, sexualitites, religions and with varying abilities and disabilities. I am conscious of the power invested in the role of counsellor/psychotherapist and am aware of how much damage and distress has been caused in peoples' lives through misuses and abuses of power. I am attentive therefore to how I hold my power. The autonomy of the client, their right to choose how they want to lead their life, how they want to be in the therapy relationship - these are fundamental to the way I work.
I am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by the BACP Code of Ethics
