About me

Do you often feel anxious and unhappy? Can negative thoughts dominate your thinking and stop you enjoying your life? Are your relationships affected by a lack of confidence and poor boundaries?

Anxiety and stress, low self-esteem, relationships problems, bereavement and loss, depression, and poor body-image, are problems I am experienced in working with.

Problems and symptoms describe feelings and states of mind caused by past and present experiences. Feeling anxiety about starting something new, meeting new people socially, or facing a challenge is natural, but when anxiety becomes a constant response that is overwhelming it often has roots in unresolved past experiences. Unchecked anxiety can flood the body-mind compromising our ability to manage and regulate feelings and thoughts. Positively,  we can learn to work with anxiety, so it doesn’t overwhelm and stop our ability to enjoy life and find fulfilment. Going forward it can become a tool for better self-care and awareness.

I can help you unpack your problem and gain clarity about your situation. Providing space to support you process feelings that have been neglected and keep you in repetitive cycles. Along with talking therapy I work with the breath, body focussing and the therapeutic use of creative imagination. Neurobiologists talk about ‘re- wiring’ the brain and nervous system, and working with the body helps to restore balance within you so adverse experiences do not control you, and instead have more awareness and choice with how you respond to outer events and inner feelings.

Talking therapy helps to identify the source of our issues and problems, and having clarity can clear the way for new perspectives. Working with the body’s resources is balancing, energising, and grounding, and provides practical strategies that can be used outside of therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold Diplomas in Psychotherapy & Counselling (2003) and Advanced Psychotherapy (2008) from the Centre for Counselling & Psychotherapy Education (CCPE), and a certificate in Group Supervision from the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA, 2015).

With the Sesame Institute I trained in the Use of Drama and Movement in Therapy (2010), and have run drama and movement courses for well being and personal development. I was a staff member at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education for 10 years where I facilitated students on the diploma course and was a member of the clinical assessment team.

I am currently studying at the Faculty of Astrological Studies.

I am registered with the UKCP, and have regular clinical supervision.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
