Profile

Central to my work is my belief that we are not problems to be solved but lives to be lived. I believe in our capacity to grow and thrive in harmony with ourselves and those we share life with. It is in meeting one with another that we can come to know ourselves and experience deeper connection with ourselves.

I offer skilled support to people who face challenges and changes in this busy and turbulent world of ours. Therapy can be for short or longer periods of time. There is no rule about the length of time; it depends on what you want and need. It may be that you have recently become bereaved, or divorced or have another kind of crisis that you simply need space to talk over in confidence in which case the length of time in therapy may be short.   Or it may be you want to address more deep seated unhappiness and difficulties such as feeling stuck in your life or depressed and this may well take a considerable period and commitment of resources but not necessarily.  We are all unique after all.

My practice is dialogic, which is to say I see therapy as a collaborative venture where we work  together to understand what it is that is going on for you. If you come to me you will be free to discuss whatever is important to you. Understanding and coming to terms with your underlying difficulties rests is in becoming aware of your self, the pasts influence on your current life, and your dreams and hopes for the future.

My practice is informed by principles of respect, confidentiality and compassion.

My theoretical roots lie in Gestalt and Psychodynamic therapies. They both have their roots in Freudian analytic therapy. Gestalt tends to emphasise the present experience and psychodynamic therapy is concerned with our relationships with ourselves and others and how we live these out. I am very happy to talk about the modalities I work from.

I have particular interest in my work supporting people struggling with creativity and
life stage crises, and problems of identity and loss of meaning.
