A warm welcome!
You may be looking for a short term, focused therapy for yourself, where we focus on a specific issue that you would like to resolve, and where you don't necessarily want to work on earlier childhood issues in any depth, (although these may come up in our conversations from time to time).
I am available for supporting you through a short term therapy of between six and twelve sessions.
You will find a lot of information about myself, about my many years of experience, as well as what I offer through my practice - so do please have a look at my website. www.peakdistrictpsychotherapy.co.uk
Please contact me if you would like a brief conversation about your situation, or if you would like to arrange an appointment with me.
All the very best, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Training, qualifications & experience
My first career was in general nursing and midwifery. Following a break from the nursing profession in which I raised a family, I began training in counselling and psychotherapy.
Over the years I've studied many of the main stream theories of counselling. I have received my own counselling and psychotherapy over several years, so I know what it feels like to be in therapy myself!
For more than 35 years I have managed a private practice, worked in mental health in the NHS, and I have worked as a therapist in the voluntary sector. I have been qualified as a supervisor for over 25 years.
My main focus in the therapy now involves noticing with interest to how we react physically to our own thoughts or the conversations we have with others. It is surprising how strongly we can react inside to our own thoughts! I build an awareness through mindfulness into the therapy as it is so helpful to calm and settle restless thoughts and feelings.

The fee is £45.00 for a 50 minute session. All appointments last for 50 minutes and begin and end promptly to the time that we arrange.
If weather conditions make travelling unsafe in the winter months, I offer phone or Skype sessions as an alternative.
I am available from Mondays to Thursdays between 9am and 4.30pm.
My practice is in a beautiful location in Grindleford, Hope Valley. S32. It's situated on 2 bus routes from Sheffield, with easy and free roadside parking, and is one mile from a railway station.
You may hesitate, and think that my practice could be more local to where you live. However, many people have said how much they value getting right away from home and work, and having time to think while travelling to Grindleford for their therapy.
The return journey afterwards, provides a quiet space to absorb and settle the benefits of the therapy before re-entering the busyness of life again.
I look forward to hearing from you, so do get in touch!
