Profile

Only couples counselling - I specialise in counselling couples in my private practice. I have trained in evidenced-based couple therapy that is, it has proved to be effective. Couples often come to counselling at the last hour but it's never too late.

My approach to counselling is that I believe that it is a collaborative relationship in which I and my client(s) work together in order to achieve specific goals agreed during counselling. Throughout the counselling process we review the goals to enable you to be helped in the most effective way.

I carry out a thorough assessment during the second session for which you pay an additional fee. From this the best way forward can be determined.

The counselling models I work with in couples counselling are Prepare/Enrich, Gottman, CBT, Solution-Focused and REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy).

I see clients for an initial 1 hour meeting. If we agree to work together I will then see clients regularly for 1 hour sessions.

I am fully insured and a member of the ACC. I work privately but I also am a consultant psychotherapist at a school for children with special needs.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I have completed an Introduction to Counselling course, followed by an Advanced Certificate in Counselling before going on to study a Diploma in the Theory and Practice of Counselling (Therapeutic Work). I have trained to work with the Prepare/Enrich programme for pre-marital and married couples and I am also trained in a separate model to work with couples (this is using the studies and research carried out by Gottman). I have also completed a Child Development Psychology Diploma and studied Solution-Focused Therapy with Children.

I am currently working with a school for children with special needs as a consultant psychotherapist.

Fees

My current fees (as at January 2010) are £50 per counselling hour.

There is an additional charge of £25 for the assessment.
