I am an experienced, professionally trained therapist with over 25 years experience working in the field of mental health. This includes several years of working as a social worker and therapist in a variety of settings in child, adolescent and adult mental health. I presently work in private practice in central London. I am qualified to work in both brief-focused and long-term work, depending on the particular needs of the individual/s.
I work psychoanalytically or psychodynamically, meaning I aim to help you understand your present difficulties in respect of your specific personal history and current overall life situation. Psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy especially focuses on the interaction between two people, the client and the therapist. I help you to think about yourself and your relationships and the issues which are concerning you as opposed to providing advice.
In addition to my private practice I have worked for several years as an NHS psychotherapist in an out-patients dept at a central London hospital. In my current role as Prinicpal Psychotherapist I lead the honorary psychotherapy program which involves teaching, supervising and clinical work. I carry out assessments and see individuals couples groups and Family's for psychotherapy .
I am visiting clinician, tutor and lecturer at Tavistock Relationships.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed my professional training as an Adult and Couples psychotherapist respectively at WPF and Tavistock Relationships. These trainings are considered amongst the most widely respected training bodies in the UK. I hold the post graduate WPF qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy together with the advanced diploma in Psychodynamic Studies from the University of Roehampton. I am qualified to work more than once a week. I completed a further couples psychoanalytic psychotherapy training and Masters at Tavistock Relationships and University of East London.
These trainings altogether are over 10 years in duration and require a substantial amount of both clinical experience (over 700 clinical hours) and personal Psychanalytic Paychotherapy .
I am Full-member of the Foundation for Psychotherapy (FPC), accredited by British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and I am registered with United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) . I am an Alumni member of Tavistock Relationships and a member of the Tavistock Institute for Medical Psychology.
I also hold a Post Grad. Cert. in Systemic (Family Therapy) from the Tavistock Clinic, I am a qualified social worker (Dipsw). and gained a first class, BSC (hons.) degree.

Initial consultation, comprising of two, 50 minute sessions, each costing 70
On-going work once weekly therapy is between £70 per 50 minute session (couples £80 - 100 per hour).
Some low-fee slots available.
The purpose of an initial consultation is to assess your needs and see whether this type of therapy could be helpful for you. This may also involve thinking together about alternative options if we agree it is not suitable.
Should we decide to work together, normally we would either agree on a number of sessions, focusing on a specific problem/area or open-ended therapy. Both would involve agreeing upon a regular, weekly session time, lasting 50 minutes, meeting on the same days and times each week.
