I offer a safe, non-judgemental, calm and confidential space for you to explore your feelings and emotions. I have been a therapeutic counsellor for almost ten years and I am a National Counselling Society accredited counsellor and a trainer and practising member of the Foundation for Emotional Therapeutic Counselling. I have a wide experience of helping adults and children with a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, stress, low confidence and self-esteem, relationship problems, life crises such as divorce and bereavement . I am on a voluntary register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Specialising in Emotional Therapeutic Counselling, I work with you, using a variety of tools and techniques, by promoting the healing of original emotional wounds. By helping you to unblock feelings, and come to an increased self awareness, I aim to help you come to a greater wholeness of mind, body and spirit, and a strengthened sense of self. This will then help you to move forward with your life in the way in which you choose. I use CBT techniques to provide support strategies alongside Emotional Therapeutic Counselling when appropriate.
For our own protection we often bury or deny what it is we are feeling; these suppressed emotions then form the blocks or filters through which we live our lives and limit our true potential, affecting our self esteem, and causing everyday life to feel frustrating, difficult, exhausting and often resulting in bouts of misplaced anger.

Training, qualifications & experience
Shortly after beginning my counselling training, I decided to follow the path of training to become an Emotional Therapeutic Counsellor with the Foundation for Emotional Therapeutic Counselling because it seems to me that our emotional wellbeing is often neglected in favour of more cognitive approaches. I am fully qualified with an Advanced Diploma, and am licenced and insured to practice. I also have a diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and have found that such strategies can be really helpful in coping with the here and now, whilst Emotional Therapeutic Counselling addresses our deeper emotional world and sense of self. The tools and techniques from both models can integrate well together according to to each individual situation.
I am an accredited member of The National Counselling Society (www.nationalcounsellingsociety.org), and practising member of the Foundation for Emotional Therapeutic Counselling (www.emotionaltherapeuticcounselling.org.uk). I have been seeing clients now with a variety of issues for almost ten years. Each client is unique, and the way I work with each client will be different, and always respectful and accepting. I am also a trainer for the Foundation for Emotional Therapeutic Counselling, and am a mentor for students, and a supervisor for counsellors and students working in the school setting.
I am passionate in believing that our emotional wellbeing holds the key to a contented and fulfilling life.

I have a diploma in Indian Head massage, hold certificates in Child Protection, safer recruitment, first aid, healing and a diploma in School Business Management. Having worked as a school business manager for many years in both primary and secondary schools, I bring added experience in respect of my understanding of how stressful and pressured situations can affect our emotional wellbeing, and the effects such stress can have upon our minds and bodies, and also the need for effective communication.

I offer an initial short consultation free of charge. This gives you the chance to find out a bit more about emotional therapeutic counselling, and to know if you feel comfortable with me as your counsellor. Thereafter each session lasts one hour and I charge £40.00. Concessions can be given and I offer reduced costs for minors.
The number of sessions needed varies according to each individual. You will know after two or three sessions if Emotional Therapeutic Counselling is for you, and you can chose to end therapy at any time.
How does Emotional Therapeutic Counselling differ from other counselling modalities?
I am often asked this question. Emotional Therapeutic Counselling seeks to work with our emotions - to understand our emotions, and how these influence our belief system, thoughts and attitudes, and to discover how these are then causing us to behave and respond in the way that we do - to others, to ourselves, and to the world. In other words we are looking to work with feelings, rather than the mind.
