Profile

Hello, my name is Linda Liddell and I am a counsellor working in the Winchester area where I have a private practice.
I see clients in a designated room in my home and I can be flexible if a client cannot commit to regular weekly sessions although experience shows that regular therapy allows the client to engage with and benefit from the process of counselling.

My aim is to enable my clients to find release from issues they are facing, and once they have, to maintain it. Depression, abuse, difficult relationships and low self esteem are some of the issues that hinder us moving forward in our lives. Counselling can offer a different perspective that can bring understanding and insight. The field of counselling has a huge and respected body of knowledge that is accessable for the benefit of clients with a range of issues that come with the experience of being human. Therapy, like coaching, is becoming one of the resources that anybody can access as a healthy way of dealing with issues.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

Diploma in Social Work.
Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling
B.A. in Theology and Counselling

I have over 10 years experience of working with children and families as a social worker. I held various roles in this field including adoption, fostering and family work.
I have been counselling for over 7 years and have experience in a number of different issues ranging from abuse, anger, work related stress to depression, trauma and identity issues.

I am committed to ongoing professional development and have full professional indemnity insurance. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP No 541136) and adhere to its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

    Further Information

I offer an integrative approach which means that I use a variety of different methods and insights including looking at significant past relationships and drawing from cognitive behaviour therapy to help you understand your life better and enable you to explore what is troubling you. I tailor how I approach an individual depending on their needs at the time and would seek to work jointly with my client. Research shows that the relationship established between client and therapist is a significant factor in enabling change and therefore building up trust and empathy with my client is the cornerstone of working together.
