About me

Thank you for visiting my profile page. My name is Jane and I am an experienced, accredited qualified relational integrative counsellor with 18 years experience in helping people with a variety of difficulties such as Relationship issues, Depression, Anxiety, Loss issues, Stress, Low Self Esteem and Eating Disorders.

I am now able to offer face to face as well telephone and Zoom consultations.

I work in private practice and based in Cardiff. I have recently retired from the NHS as a Senior Psychological Therapist in the Eating Disorders Specialist Outpatient Treatment Team (EDSOTT) to concentrate more on my private practice

One of the main aims of counselling is to enable people to gain a perspective about their problems, to gain insight and self awareness that allows them to make choices and create possibilities in their lives.

My aim as your counsellor is to encourage a positive, therapeutic relationship that enables you as my client to feel heard and ultimately empowered to make choices and decisions that allows you to take charge of your own life and move forward in a positive direction.

Working with you, I can help to identify the difficulties that maybe preventing you from being able to make positive changes in your life by providing and ensuring a safe, private space for you to discuss your problems and to freely express associated thoughts and feelings, ensuring that you feel heard, understood and believed.

I am an Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Code of Ethics and complaints procedure.

I work from consulting rooms that are warm, friendly, bright and modern and are conveniently located at  Talking Therapy on Whitchurch Road, Cardiff.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
