Counsellor Profile
Page last updated: November 14 2008
I offer one to one counselling by visiting people in their own home in the Bristol area offering long term and short term work.
I began my counselling training in 2001 and have recently (Setember 2008) submitted my work for an MSc in Counselling at the University of Bristol and am awaiting the results (expected Jan 2009).
I worked as a counsellor for 4 years at Cruse Bereavement Care. I then worked as a counsellor for children and young people for about a year, and since then have worked as a counsellor to adults by vising them in their own home.
I also work with adults with disabilities and learning difficulties.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their ethical principles. A copy of which is available on request.
I work in a person centred way, so you are free to lead the session and discuss things at a pace you feel comfortable with. You will not be told what you should or shouldn't do, instead we will work towards your own answers and choices. You will not be judged or critisised and anything you talk about is in the strictest confidence. There will need to be some guidelines around the counselling relationship and I can discuss these with you during a free initial meeting.

I do not charge for the first session as this initial meeting will be a time for us to decide if we can work together. You will not be obliged to book further sessions.
If you decide to book further sessions then each session lasts 50 minutes. The cost includes travel expences and time taken to travel to and from your home.
The standard cost is £35 per session.
I also have a small amount of places available for people that are unemployed, retired or on a very low income. This is usually £25 but can be negotiated.
Extra Information
I can offer daytime and evening work.
I reccomend that we meet once per week at an agreed time on the same day each week. However I recognise that for some people this can be difficult, especially people that work different shifts, so I can sometimes offer some felxibility around meeting times.
