Welcome to Tony Ford Counselling. Within my counselling service i provide a safe, warm, respectful and non-judgementle environment. This confidential environment is a space for you to explore, come to terms and move through hurtful and any possible damaging issues that affect your relationships and life. Such a space will help to empower and give freedom to you and your environment.
About me: I am fully qualified and Accredited Humanistic Counsellor, privately and for the NHS, Thought Field Therapist and Rioho Master Reiki Practitioner. My training, alongside my personal journey, has been extensive. Within this rewarding journey I have experienced and studied various Psychological interventions, and holistic, healing methods. Many are in line with my own belief.

The belief in the innate capabilities of every individual to achieve what is the best for them, if they are able to understand themselves and their environment.

I work in accordance to strict guidelines laid down by the BACP code of ethics (British association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and the BTFTA (British Thought Field Therapy Association.)

Training, Qualifications & Experience

For the last 9 years I have worked with Individuals and groups in helping them understand and relieve anxiety and discomforts of the mind and body.

* At present I work in private practice, counselling individuals with a range of issues E.g Relationship Problems / Depression / anxiety / Abuse / Trauma.

* I am also currently a Primary care counsellor in a 6 session CBT framework for the NHS, counselling clients from GP surgeries within the portsmouth area.

* I am also a Referral counsellor and a member of the management committee for Off The record counselling young Adults with a range of issues from relationship difficulties to abuse within an age group 11 to 25, which I do as a volunteer.

* I am also a Registered Thought Field Therapist working with individuals with various traumas, addictions and phobias.

* 2 years with the Samaritans, working with troubled and suicidal individuals.

* Several years working with Reiki, three of which, as Reiki master Practitioner.

Qualifications
Postgraduate diploma in Person Centred and Gestalt Counselling / Psychotherapy.

NVQ3 Interpersonal group Psychotherapy

NCFE Levels 1,2,3 In Counselling skills and theory

Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Certificate of training in Bio-Psycho-Social model of Addiction.

Algorithm in Thought Field Therapy (Trauma, Phobias, Addictions.)

Master Practitioner in Usui Reiki Ryho

I also specialize in PTSD and trauma, self harm and panics. Being a registered Thought Field Therapist i am able to help individuals cope with their existing issues in a very short period of time. This can give clients the freedom to embark on longer term therapy to resolve the deep rooted aspect of their issues.
