Counsellor Profile
I am a professional, fully qualified counsellor and hypnotherapist. I have worked for several years within the NHS as a staff counsellor alongside my private practice. My approach is mainly person-centred although I am able to bring in my knowledge and experience of other therapeutic approaches where these might be helpful, including hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I believe that having the opportunity to talk about what is troubling you, in confidence, and with someone who actively listens and tries to understand, can help you to find the way forward that is right for you. This belief has been confirmed many times through a lengthy experience of supporting people in a large, public sector organisation, as well as working for several years as a counsellor. Seeing people grow in self-confidence, self-belief and self-worth as they become more prepared to accept who they are has been truly inspiring. I have experience of helping clients with a wide range of problems, seeing some for just a few sessions and some over a longer period of time.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you would like to find out more.

Training, Qualifications & Experience (more info)
Advanced Diploma in Counselling (Level 4).
Diploma in Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, Psychology and Psychotherapy.
In addition to individual counselling, I have experience of working with couples using a person-centred approach, which means focusing particularly on how partners can work towards a deeper understanding of themselves as individuals and of each other, and so find ways to resolve problems and differences.
My experience of hypnotherapy covers its usefulness as both a stand-alone therapy for problems such as IBS, phobias and anxiety, as well as in conjunction with counselling, for example using age regression to discover how past experiences may be affecting the present.
