Profile
I imagine you are reading this because you are interested in improving your health and well-being. That’s my intention too. Client care, low-cost counselling, Health and Well-Being and empowering people to live the life they want to their optimal potential are life-long passions.
Client testimonial:
I was unable to find a way out of my career situation. My working life had ground to a halt, and I was flooded with fears from the past. My weekly therapy with Karen, has enabled me to be more confident in the job market, go after and focus on the work that I really want, and gain a greater awareness of my patterns in working relationships. I have also been able to look at my behaviour in intimate relationships, and the patterns I fall in to, learning now to say no, when I have to. I feel that I am worth more these days.
(Playwright & Teacher, age 44)
My unique, evidence-based approach is tailored to your individual needs. I offer some low-cost slots. During our work together clients often report positive change.
My philosophy is that all people have enormous capacity for living creatively, lovingly and joyfully which are often untapped or repressed in our society.
I bring energy and enthusiasm to my work with clients. Results-driven, I will often ask my clients to step out of their comfort zone to get to where they want to be. I will be a trusted partner along the way, holding clients accountable to their own action planning and growth.
Recognising that each person is unique, and that one therapy model does not suit all, I tailor my work to meet my clients individual needs and personality adopting an Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling approach. My unique, evidence-based approach is tailored to individual need and involves working on cognitive, physical and emotional levels. I move flexibly among a range of approaches such as mindfulness based therapy, humanistic, psychodynamic, body psychotherapy and neuroscience, depending on your individual needs and personality.
I am equally concerned about personal growth and development and encouraging people to discover their potential for living as I am about those of you who have identified that you have particular problems you wish to talk about.
My sessions involve you and I meeting, talking and listening together with the mutual purpose of paying careful attention to your life and how you experience it.
Therapy is a shared process so I think it is important for me to honour your privacy and personal independence and for me to create a non-judgmental nurturing environment so that you feel comfortable enough to talk about issues that are bothering you. My role is to facilitate your work in ways that respect your values, personal resources and capacity for choice within your cultural/spiritual context and recognize how they can sometimes be at odds with your actions or how you feel day to day.
