Psychotherapy provides you with the space and time to explore and discuss life changes that have happened or that you wish to make.
I am a qualified Integrative Body Psychotherapist and brief counsellor, I have been working in the mental health sector for over fourteen years and in the process I have experience of working with a range of problems and issues that affect men and women. I offer support and help to clarify and examine the problems that are troubling you in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space. This could be a specific issue, for example, adjusting to the loss of someone important in your life or needing help with managing anxiety, panic attacks, depression or relationship issues.
My specialty is Body Psychotherapy, this model of psychotherapy takes into account the way in which the body reacts to a psychological crisis. I use recognised approaches to help you discover the significance of the inter relationship between mind and body and the outer relationship you experience with another person. The sessions aim to help you identify conflicts experienced between the mind and body through increasing your awareness of feelings and emotions that are associated with particular themes or issues that surface in your life. This mindful approach allows you to understand what happens in the therapeutic encounter mirrors the relationship that you have with the people and environment that surround you.
As a Body Psychotherapist I am trained to teach you skills to explore surfacing themes that arise in the sessions with helpful techniques such as breath work or visualisation. The aim of the sessions is to encourage you to develop your self reflection and self-awareness skills.
I offer clients a chance to express their therapeutic journey in their own unique way, whether it is in the form a journal, poetry, drawing, movement or taking the time to talk through things in their own time to find a resolution.
I have a particularly interest in dream analysis and invite clients to bring their dreams into the session.
If you decide to make an appointment you will be invited to an initial consultation to discuss and possibly identify the problems you’re facing. The consultation will give you the opportunity to meet me and decide if psychotherapy or counselling is right for you.
