Counsellor Profile

I am an experienced counsellor working from a Person Centred base offering empathy and non-judgemental acceptance.

I aim to create a safe environment and provide the opportunity for you to experience a relationship in which you feel accepted and valued without feeling judged. You may then feel able to talk freely about your life experiences, feelings and beliefs, relationships, behaviours or anything else that is preventing you from living in a way that you consider satisfactory.

You may want to look at the origins of emotional difficulties and this may involve reconnecting with thoughts or feelings that you have blocked off or denied. You may be experiencing low self esteem and may want to work towards fostering a more positive sense of self, perhaps by acting in a more assertive manner.

Irrrational beliefs and negative thought patterns can lead to relationship difficulties and low self esteem. You may want to work towards integrating the parts of yourself you find difficult to accept.

I also integrate aspects of Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural theories into my work which may help us identify the connections between your early life experiences and the difficulties you are currently encountering.

Sometimes people find it difficult or uncomfortable to try and put their feelings into words so we can work with pens, chalk, paper or use other creative materials that would help you to access and express your feelings.

I have gained experience by working at a community based counselling centre and at the Terrence Higgins Trust.

Fees

I charge between £25.00 (Students) and £30.00, fees are negotiable.

I believe everyone should be able to access counselling if they need to.

The charge for the first session will be £15.00. This will give us an opportunity to meet, and talk about what counselling involves. You can then make a decision about whether you want to book more sessions.

I can offer sessions during the day, evening or on a saturday morning.

Extra Information

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within the Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

I hold an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

In the case of Schools or other Educational Support Services I am prepared to travel to your organisation.
