This may be the start of your new journey, and I understand that looking to find a counsellor may be daunting. You may have questions like, will they be able to help me, what will it be like?
I offer you a free 30 minute consultation to enable you to see if I am the right person for you to work with as I understand it is important that you feel comfortable and safe in order to begin your therapy.
I believe that through a counselling relationship, we are able to enhance our lives by understanding our emotions like feeling sad or angry and from that, what we need. Whilst working through our difficult times, we are giving ourselves the time and space we need in order to care for our emotional wellbeing, just as we might for our body. Our mental health goes up and down throughout our lives just the same as our physical health does and recognising this is important to stay healthy.
In common with a lot of counsellors, my journey began when I was in therapy myself. Through my relationship with my own therapist, I realised how the right support really helped me unravel what was going on in my life and to help me make different choices which were far more healthy for me.
Counselling and psychotherapy can help you to explore, unravel and deal with issues that affect your life. Sometimes difficulties, either recent or long standing may reveal themselves as low self-esteem, anxiety and depression, or can result in relationship problems, substance abuse, eating or drinking too much, not having enough time or physical illness.
I aim to offer you professional and confidential help as I am qualified in counselling and psychotherapy and have significant experience of working with individuals and couples bringing a variety of issues. I offer compassionate support to my clients in a non-directive way, so they you can explore the things you need to in confidence and without judgement.
My aim is to work with you in a peaceful and discreet environment and help you with what you need in your sessions.
I am available to work short term or long term with individuals and couples using a variety of approaches. Depending on what you need and what you bring, I will tailor your sessions to suit you.
I abide to the BACP code of ethics and have regular supervision to ensure I work efficiently and with respect with my clients.
I have a BACP approved first class honours degree (B.A.) in Humanistic Counselling using Transactional Analysis, a play therapy certificate, Rewind trauma training, mindfulness training and various Counselling Skills using art or sand tray work. I have specialist areas in trauma and domestic abuse.
My education and development is ongoing and I have a particular interest in the treatment of depression, generalised anxiety disorder, anxiety, panic disorder and issues of relationships, affairs and betrayal, seperation and divorce.
My belief is we all have the potential to make changes throughout our lives given the right tools and environment.
If you feel now is the time to try a new approach please do get in touch via email or phone to discuss your situation or make an initial free appointment.
