I offer an initial 30 minute FREE CONSULTATION for couples or individuals, after which you can then decide if you would like further counselling with me.

Having been counselling, pastoring, encouraging and listening for over twenty-four years now, I have also walked through some difficult times myself. My first wife died of breast cancer at 34 leaving me with a two and a half year old daughter to raise as a single parent. Bereavement, stress, depression, anxiety and anger have all, at one time or another, been part of my own life and I have great empathy and understanding for those going through these issues.

Now, as a father of seven children - including five step-children - who are going through teenage years, I know some of the pain, turmoil and conflicts of family life. Marriage and couples counselling, family, parenting and relationship issues are of special interest to me and I have gained valuable personal experience in this field. If you are looking for help with marriage/couple guidance and family counselling problems then I can almost certainly help. It has been very rewarding to see other couples' and family relationships restored.

My heart is for people - to encourage them and to see them through difficult times - and I have deep compassion for those undergoing emotional struggles. Having heard many things behind closed doors, very little can surprise me now. My earnest desire is to see others find a way forward in the issues and circumstances that they find themselves in. As well as having a private counselling practice in Kettering and being the NHS counsellor at a G.P.'s surgery in Corby, I counsel prisoners at H.M.Prison Wellingborough. CRB checked, I also worked for many years with troubled 16-25 year olds at the YMCA residential hostel in Kettering.

As an 'Integrative' Counsellor, I counsel from both Person-Centred and Psychodynamic approaches and use Cognitive Behaviourial Theraphy where necessary. Fully insured, I receive regular personal supervision.

Counselling takes place at my counselling room not far from Wicksteed Park in Kettering and my aim is to provide a caring, confidential environment where you can feel comfortable about discussing and sharing personal matters in privacy.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

As well as over twenty-four years of practical experience (since May 1987), I hold these formal qualifications:-
- BA (Hons.) in Modern History and International Relations.
- Advanced Diploma in Counselling (AQA).
- Certificate in Counselling Skills.
- Certificate in Counselling Theory.
I am also an Accredited Member of the professional body, The Counselling Society.

Fees

There are no set number of appointments.

Private individuals and employees referred by their employers are all welcomed. Referrals from Social Services and other agencies are also taken.

I offer an initial thirty minute FREE consultation. Thereafter, my fees are £40 for a session of individual counselling and £50 for a session of couple or family counselling. A session lasts for fifty minutes. Please contact me by phone or email (see top of page) to arrange the initial consultation.

Counselling for employees can be arranged at company premises and I can travel to counsel individuals, couples and families in their own homes (travel time to be taken into consideration).

My fees can be lowered for those genuinely unable to afford them.

I have an in depth knowledge and experience of the Myers-Briggs Psychometric Profile Test that I often use to help assess character/personality types - especially useful in couples counselling.
