About me

I am a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist practicing in Islington/Dalston/Stoke Newington in London.

I provide a confidential, safe space where you can talk about difficult emotional issues and struggles. I offer both open ended therapy and short term focused contracts. I  offer CBT focused work and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing) for working with individuals who have experienced trauma.  I also offer short term focused EMDR work for phobias, social anxiety,OCD and complex bereavement.  EMDR is always offered within the context of a therapeutic relationship.
I additionally offer Interpersonal Therapy ( a NICE recommended treatment for moderate to severe depression) which is a 16 - 20 session contract.
I work with individuals, couples and groups.

My personal style is integrative and relational. I originally trained as an integrative therapist and have  completed a four year psychotherapy training in Transactional Analysis. I aim to create an environment that supports you in making changes in your life to enable you behave differently, or to think or feel about things differently and to feel you have a choice in how you move forward… in life, in relationships, in work…

I have over 15 years experience working as a psychotherapist in private practice and within the NHS and have worked with a very wide range of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety and panic attacks, anxiety related disorders, stress, relationship problems, early trauma, adoption and early abandonment issues, eating disorders etc

I have a particular interest in working with both adult and early trauma and have worked successfully with individuals who have been struggling to move on in their lives as a consequence of very difficult experiences in their childhood as well as individuals who have suffered trauma in adult life.

I also provide supervision.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling And Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the Institute Of Transactional Analysis. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and have completed advanced training for a MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. I have completed EMDR Parts 1, 2 and 3.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
