As a fully qualified experienced solution focused counsellor and therapist, I have helped many people to overcome a wide range of issues using positive and practical strategies. I specialise in anxiety, anger management, bereavement, post-traumatic stress disorder (ptsd), depression and phobias. I also specialise in how to cope with a partner who is depressed or anxious as well as strategies for couples where one partner has Asperger syndrome.
A solution-focused approach is forward-looking whilst still giving the past respectful recognition.
I offer reliable and practical help without "psychobabble", drawing on the latest research about how the mind works. I also draw on a wide range of techniques, (tailored to suit each individual) which have been established as the most effective for relieving emotional distress and behavioural difficulties including, as appropriate, relaxation/calming techniques, guided imagery, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, compassion focused therapy and learning new thinking and communication styles so you can move on with your life as quickly as possible.
I use various supporting materials such as CDs and handouts which are all included in the fee. Generally the average number of sessions is between 2 and 6 although longer term support is also available.
I am based in Clifton, Bristol. Evening and weekend appointments are available as well as advice by email or telephone.
